What is GLB — and why convert to YDR for FiveM?
GLB (glTF Binary) is a universal 3D format. You export it from Blender, Sketchfab, Meshy, Tripo or any modern 3D tool. It stores mesh geometry, materials and textures in one portable file.
YDR (drawable) is GTA V's native 3D format. FiveM streams YDR files from your resource
stream/ folder when players approach a custom prop. The game engine does not load raw GLB
files — you must convert GLB to YDR (and generate matching archetype data) before the prop can spawn.
Think of GLB as your source artwork and YDR as the compiled game asset. Every custom chair, sign, decoration or map object on a FiveM server ultimately comes from a YDR drawable, usually paired with a YTYP archetype file.
What files you get after converting GLB to YDR
A proper GLB to YDR FiveM pipeline does not stop at a single mesh file. A spawnable prop needs:
| File | Purpose | Required? |
|---|---|---|
.ydr | Drawable — 3D geometry, materials, LODs | Yes |
.ytd | Texture dictionary — embedded or separate textures | Usually |
.ytyp | Archetype — tells GTA V how to register and stream the prop | Yes |
.ybn | Collision mesh — physics / walking on the object | Recommended |
fxmanifest.lua | FiveM resource manifest | Yes |
EasyFiveM packages all of these into one ZIP so you can drop the folder into resources/ and restart.

How to convert GLB to YDR online free (EasyFiveM)
The fastest way to convert GLB to YDR online for FiveM is EasyFiveM Prop Maker. Upload and 3D editing are free; you spend credits only when you export the final FiveM ZIP. No Blender, OpenIV or CodeWalker install required.
Step 1 — Open Prop Maker and upload your GLB
- Go to easyfivem.com/editor.
- Sign in with Discord (required for export).
- Drag your
.glbor.gltffile into the upload area. - OBJ and FBX also work — but GLB gives the most reliable GLB to YDR results because textures stay embedded.
Step 2 — Set prop name and review scale
- Enter a prop name (this becomes your YDR / YTYP filename).
- Check the 3D preview — most props should be roughly 1–2 metres tall in-world.
- If the model is tiny or huge, adjust scale before export. Fixing scale after YDR conversion is harder.
Step 3 — Edit textures and collision (optional but recommended)
Unlike basic upload-only converters, Prop Maker lets you fix assets before the GLB to YDR conversion runs:
- Textures — paint or replace texture slots, preview UVs in the browser.
- Collision — generate or simplify the YBN collision mesh so players don't fall through.
- Live preview — orbit the model to catch flipped normals or missing faces early.
Step 4 — Export YDR + YTYP + fxmanifest ZIP
- Click Download ZIP when export health reads 100.
- Your ZIP contains
stream/*.ydr, textures, YTYP andfxmanifest.lua. - Extract to your server's
resources/folder (see install steps below).
Start your GLB to YDR conversion — upload is free.
Open GLB to YDR converterHow to prepare your GLB before converting to YDR
Better input = better YDR output. Before you upload, check these points in Blender or your 3D tool:
- Apply transforms — scale, rotation and location applied (Ctrl+A in Blender) so the prop spawns at the right size.
- Single object or clean hierarchy — merge loose meshes if possible; extremely deep hierarchies can slow conversion.
- Embedded textures — export GLB with textures packed in, not external PNG paths that break on upload.
- Reasonable polycount — props under ~50k triangles convert fastest; decimate high-poly scans before export.
- Correct facing normals — flip inverted faces in Blender; they show as invisible or black in YDR.
- Origin at base — place the origin at the bottom centre of the prop so it sits on the ground when placed.
Export settings in Blender: File → Export → glTF 2.0 (.glb), format GLB, include UVs, normals and materials. This is the same workflow recommended in our 3D model to FiveM prop guide.
Install your YDR prop on a FiveM server
After you convert GLB to YDR, installing on your server takes about two minutes:
- Extract the ZIP to
resources/my_custom_prop/on your server machine. - Open
server.cfgand add:
ensure my_custom_prop - Restart the server (or
refresh+ensure my_custom_propin txAdmin). - Spawn in-game with a prop placer, mapping tool or script using the archetype name from your YTYP.
Works on ESX, QBCore, standalone and custom frameworks — YDR props are framework-agnostic. See our FiveM resource ZIP guide for manifest details.
No GLB yet? Start from a photo or Sketchfab
If you don't have a 3D model yet, you have two fast paths:
- Sketchfab — browse millions of models and import directly in Prop Maker. See our full Sketchfab to FiveM guide (covers Sketchfab to YDR step by step).
- Photo — use Image to Prop to generate a mesh from an image, refine in Prop Maker, then export YDR.
Converting Sketchfab models to YDR
Most Sketchfab downloads are already GLB — so the Sketchfab to YDR workflow is the same as this guide, with one shortcut: you can skip the manual download entirely.
- Open Prop Maker and click Find models to search Sketchfab in-app.
- Import a model (check the license and download permission first).
- Fix scale — Sketchfab assets vary in size more than Blender exports.
- Export YDR + YTYP + fxmanifest ZIP as described above.
For the full Sketchfab workflow, license checklist, troubleshooting and comparison with other tools, read Sketchfab to FiveM — complete guide.
GLB to YDR conversion methods compared
| Method | Best for | Texture editing | Learning curve | Output |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EasyFiveM Prop Maker | Fast props, RP servers, mappers without Blender | Yes — in browser | Low | Full ZIP (YDR + YTD + YTYP + manifest) |
| Basic online converters | Quick one-off geometry-only exports | No | Low | Often YDR only — you wire YTYP yourself |
| Blender + Sollumz | Complex MLOs, vehicles, advanced LOD control | Yes — in Blender | High | Manual — you build the resource folder |
| CodeWalker + manual pipeline | Editing existing GTA assets | Limited | High | Depends on workflow |
For most server props — furniture, signs, decorations, small map objects — a browser GLB to YDR converter with texture and collision editing beats spending hours in Blender. Save Sollumz for vehicles, interiors and assets that need vertex-level control.
Alternative: convert GLB to YDR with Blender + Sollumz
The traditional pipeline still works if you already know Blender:
- Import GLB into Blender.
- Install the Sollumz addon.
- Convert the mesh to a Drawable (YDR) inside Blender.
- Generate YTYP archetype in CodeWalker or Sollumz.
- Build collision (YBN), export textures (YTD).
- Write
fxmanifest.luaand package the resource manually.
This path gives maximum control but takes significantly longer. Many creators use EasyFiveM for the GLB → YDR step, then only open Blender when a prop needs custom LOD chains or rigging. Read FiveM props without Blender for a full comparison.
Troubleshooting GLB to YDR conversion
Prop is invisible in-game
- Missing or incorrect YTYP — ensure the archetype name matches your spawn command.
- Resource not started — check
ensurein server.cfg and server console for errors. - Flipped normals — re-export GLB with correct face orientation.
Pink / missing textures after GLB to YDR
- Textures were not embedded in the GLB — re-export with packed images.
- Unsupported material nodes — use principled BSDF with image textures before export.
- Fix texture slots in Prop Maker before exporting the YDR.
Prop is wrong size in-world
- Apply scale in Blender before exporting GLB.
- Check units — Blender metres usually map correctly; centimetre exports appear tiny.
Players fall through the prop
- Collision (YBN) missing or too simple — regenerate collision in Prop Maker before export.
Export queue / credits
Free-tier exports may queue during peak hours. Paid plans skip the queue. Editing and preview remain free — you only spend credits on the final GLB to YDR ZIP download. See plans & credits.
GLB to YDR — frequently asked questions
Is there a free GLB to YDR converter for FiveM?
Yes. EasyFiveM Prop Maker lets you upload GLB, edit in 3D and preview for free. Credits apply only when you download the final YDR + YTYP + fxmanifest ZIP.
Can I convert GLB to YDR without Blender?
Yes. EasyFiveM runs the conversion server-side. You need a browser and Discord login — no Blender, Sollumz, OpenIV or CodeWalker on your PC.
Does GLB to YDR work for FiveM ESX and QBCore servers?
Yes. YDR props are framework-agnostic. They work on ESX, QBCore, standalone and any FiveM server that streams custom assets.
What is the difference between GLB and YDR?
GLB is a standard open 3D format (glTF binary). YDR is GTA V's proprietary drawable format. FiveM only streams YDR (not GLB) for custom props in the game world.
Can I convert GLTF, OBJ or FBX instead of GLB?
Yes. Prop Maker accepts GLB, glTF, OBJ and FBX. GLB is recommended because textures stay embedded and conversion is most reliable.
What files are included in the export?
A complete FiveM resource: YDR drawable, YTD textures (when needed), YTYP archetype, YBN collision and fxmanifest.lua in a ready-to-drop ZIP.
How long does GLB to YDR conversion take?
Most props convert in under a minute after you click export. Complex meshes with many textures may take a few minutes. Free tier may queue during busy periods.
Do I need a YTYP file with my YDR?
Yes, for spawnable props. The YTYP tells GTA V how to register your drawable. EasyFiveM generates it automatically — you don't write it by hand.
Can I convert Sketchfab or Meshy models to YDR?
Yes. Browse Sketchfab inside Prop Maker (Find models) or download GLB from Sketchfab/Meshy and upload. Full walkthrough: Sketchfab to FiveM guide. For AI meshes see create FiveM props with AI.
Is online GLB to YDR safe for commercial servers?
Thousands of live RP servers run props exported from browser converters. Always test on a dev server first and keep backups of your resource folder.
